The article was about the “Parliament of the World’s Religions.” The Religio-Philosophical Society continuyed into the 1920s-many of the members were “paid” to leave the USSR by the bolsheviks, and many were responsible for the “leanings” of the St Sergius Institute in Paris, and on to the St Vladimir’s Seminary of the Orthodox Church in America. They were also VERY influenced by Theosophy (created by Madame Blavatsky) and Anthroposophy (Rudolf Steiner) who both preacehed tha “truth” that “all religions are one.” “Unity” was found in that simple belief-“all religions are one,” – this did away with any requirement for the creation of “One Church” for all; if one believed “all religions are one,” then all religions were the same, united, and “one” in spirit. This society did much harm to the Orthodox Church-both inside and out. I think most of the “Silver Age” (also known as “decadents”-Russian literature) writers and poets were once part of this Religio-Philosophical Society. I am glad to see this society recognized for what it really was here on this website!
